Mciver Wells mural at Pour House
I’ve always wanted to tag and do big murals since I was a kid seeing Kool Disco Dan’s work all over MD/ DC.
I once do fairy murals behind my bedroom door when I was 14. I worked 3 days after my parents went to bed using acrylics I’d pilfered from my dad.
So proud I was of the work I’d completed I had to show someone. It lasted 48hrs

Im always awe struck when I get to see artists I really admire work. I’ve seen this dude’s work all over Charleston for years!!!!!
What was even so cool was the he looked nothing I thought and his mural is right next to my friend Mciver’s mural (he plays in Key of Q on Sundays at Pour House and he’s a groovy painter).
my good friend Janelle has had bad bad luck with cars since I’ve moved here to SC. With 3 crazy rugrats aaand the need to lug art/jewelry/tent/table/etc to vend at art markets, it’s hard to imagine being without wheels. HOWEVER, Lady luck smiled upon her this week ..she sent me this picture…
This is Bacon, blogging about the church van. I luv her so much! She’s wickedly rad and talented. Belly full of laughs. And to imagine, we met on Craigslist : )
Church van mural…
It’s almost done on this side. I still have quite a bit of outline. The sun was BEAMING happily on us; however, it was too damn hot.
Once the outline is completed, everything will pop! My kills w a thin paintbrush r lacking w such a large scale. Most likely I’ll get Bacon to clean up my brushstrokes.
So here’s the van. She isn’t named yet, but I’m feelin the name Betty.

Bacon and I painted one side on Thursday.
After a good washing, we outlined the wave and swirls w a big ass sharpie. I’m a big fan of her waves.
Next, we primed w 2 coats of white oil based paint. That is a must. It creates a bright white base. Like a fresh sheet of paper.
3, add color. At least two coats. The paint we used some exterior paints and regular acrylics. We felt that since we are sealing the whole mural in a clear varnish, using regular paints.
Things are moving along. I’m excited for my new studio. Geeking out about the mural I’m going to execute. Thanx to my Tumblr feed, I have been inspired to do a left brain right brain piece one wall. On the other, this amazaballs screenprint by CricketPress. One of my vending associates sells her work at HolyCityArtistsAndFleas. His name is Chuck Keppler. Anywho, the DenOfDopeness is certainly going to have life, love and color on it’s walls.
