All day all I wanted to do was fire hoop.
When most te chores were completed and the rain subsided, I went to warm up by hooping w my 5/8” Inner diameter fire hoop, unlit. After a few minutes of hooping I noticed how the hoop was feeling weird.
In slow motion, the hoop came apart.
Boo
So here’s what I discovered:
I need 5/8” HDPE hula hoop for my quick wicks. 5/8” polypro hula hoop get way wobbly w the added weight of the wicks. The polypro hoop is thin and wider hoops get wobbly after around 34” wide.
HDPE (High Density PolyurEthane)
is like the polypro except that HDPE is rigid. Some complain that its stiff and breaks easy. It is light. My breaks and iso-pops will look tight bc there is far less elasticity. Im a fan bc my flow works cohesively.
Anyway, HDPE is not elastic in its make up. Affordable. HDPE is half the price of Poly.
Thoughts?
Hooping in Expanding the Current workshop. This workshop was about recognizing the path of the hula hoop and playing w that current.
Wherever the hoop goes, u anticipate it’s destination and play. Roll on wrists. Roll on forehead. Neck. Elbows. Find control points on your body like ur forehead, palm, fingertips, etc.
By the time this posts, I will have run away to Hoop Convergence in North Carolina. 5 days of nothing but hula hooping. Classes. Hoop jams. Fire play. Demos. Lots and lots of hula hooping. I’m effing pumped! My mother treated me to this amazing retreat as a mother’s day gift. She gave me two gifts out this trip. 1, a camping trip w my hoop tribe. 2, solitude (“bc every mother has to have their alone time”). I’m driving up with 1 of my Hoop Mamas. I will be selling my HoopLove jewelry and paintings whilst there. In the meantime, Feel the joy as I hoop to a little old school MJ. Ps- don’t mind my jiggly bits.

After a near hour of nonstop hooping, a tall concert goer exclaimed from the shadows. “you were amazing”! I never even knew anyone was really paying attention to me. I didn’t even have an LED during the strobing lights.
He fumbled into his bookbag and gave the 3 of us these wooden frogs (instruments). “i have to give you this”!
I named mine George. He likes to hoop.
Merry Wanee!
After a successful show at the Athens Craftstravaganza, hubs took us to the Oconee River park. So beautiful.
Long ago abandoned train tracks w their timber bridges are now covered in vibrant green. Shady and quiet. The air electric with history. Of course I had to hula hoop.
Hubs threw me Beats (my newest hoop) and I found my center under the trees. Felt so good after 2 days of sweating my butt off w very little hooping space.

As professional hooper Baxter often does, Hooping blindfolded is a great asset. It makes you FEEL the flow rather than watching and waiting for the right moment to jump in.
Hooping is about the feel. Finding your center. You are the center. Finding peace. Absolute serenity.
