One of hoop mamas is featured! Kacey of Homespun Hoops.
Yay! I was there that day and got to fire hoop in front of plenty of strangers. I’m the woman wearing an orange shirt. Blink and you’ll miss me. Ha!
I need a more visually striking outfit.
At HoopCon I chickened out of fire hooping. Eventhough I was in a safe place surrounded by my peers, I couldn’t. Surrounded by near 100 of the most talented hoopers I’ve ever seen.
I returned home with quick wicks courtesy of Synergy Firehoops. My first run left one hoop broken. Thanks to Mirganza, she hooked me up w an HDPE hoop which makes for an ideal fire hoop for my aesthetic. I do drop her a few times but I keep on going.
Always keep going.
All day all I wanted to do was fire hoop.
When most te chores were completed and the rain subsided, I went to warm up by hooping w my 5/8” Inner diameter fire hoop, unlit. After a few minutes of hooping I noticed how the hoop was feeling weird.
In slow motion, the hoop came apart.
Boo
So here’s what I discovered:
I need 5/8” HDPE hula hoop for my quick wicks. 5/8” polypro hula hoop get way wobbly w the added weight of the wicks. The polypro hoop is thin and wider hoops get wobbly after around 34” wide.
HDPE (High Density PolyurEthane)
is like the polypro except that HDPE is rigid. Some complain that its stiff and breaks easy. It is light. My breaks and iso-pops will look tight bc there is far less elasticity. Im a fan bc my flow works cohesively.
Anyway, HDPE is not elastic in its make up. Affordable. HDPE is half the price of Poly.
Thoughts?
A great firing. Near 60 fresh, glow in the dark, vibrant and colorful fused glass stones.
Bracelets.
Necklaces.
Rings.
Fabulous.
Blue Heron Glass studio and shop have been cranking out really amazing platters. I scavenged 1 1/2 lbs of their scraps. Yellow. Swirly purples and grasshopper green. Fresh Mike and his ladies rock!
Unfortunately, I had no shows booked the weekend. I lazed around. Watched the PBS documentary Circus (we’ll talk about that more later). Completed A LOT of office work. Saturday, Catalyst Creative Studios had a fire playdate that was just what the doctor ordered. I get in a funk when a weekend goes un-worked.
We played with fire and danced to the drums. Even had a lil bellydancing demo. I had fun.
Makes me so excited to go to hoop convergence next spring!
I’ve completed my first hooping class. The last 15 months have been amazing I learn more and more each day with questions and YouTube.com.
Catalyst Creative Studios has classes for moving arts like hooping, juggling, belly dance and aerial hooping.
I decided my first hooping class, taught by 1 of my hooping inspirations Miss hooptress, was going to be fire hula hooping.
Nervous at first, I now hoop overly confident. Thank you CatalystCreative!!
Now I have to save up for the hooping wicks from http://www.synergyfirehoops.com/collections/travel-hoops-and-wicks
