It finally happened. I got an iPad. My hubs gives the best Christmas gifts: cold hard cash.
Several years ago i got my kiln, Scotty. Last year was my LED hoop. This year, a glorious iPad who has been named The Mothership.
She is more awesome than I thought it would be. A perfect studio time tool (music/ notes/ tv/sketchbook/ google) and lightening fast. Best app ive gotten is the sketchbook app and finally found a place FB app works.
I have no grievances…..however, I find the weight to b a problem for my overworked wrists. It’s less than 2 lbs, but my poor wrists get fatigued if I don’t use a table or my lap.
Oh Mothership, what adventures we will have.
Mother in law gave BFF and I another French oven for Christmas. It’s a mismatched set of teal and turquoise. 7 1/4 quart capacity cast iron pot.
She got it from a family friend who dug them out the trash of an outlet store almost years ago. These pots retail for $300. Even used they are over $200.
She gave us one a couple months ago and we use the $hit out of it.
Chili
Soup
Homemade stocks and sauces.
If the machines actually take over and we r left w/o electricity, we will eat like kings. These pots will last generations and the apocalypse.
Got these handmade chopsticks and spreader from www.newberry.etsy.com for BFF. Last year I got her handmade wooden spoons w her name burned into handle.
The chopsticks are made from the same wood that clarinets are made. BFF played clarinet in high school.
The spreader is made from a rare black tree indigenous to central America.
She loved them so much, no one is allowed to use them. Rightfully so, dude. Rightfully so
Christmas has come and gone. I haven’t blogged in a while w great reason.
We got our Christmas tree for $25 at the lot beside our neighborhood. All grown in Boone, NC.
She sat in a bucket of water draped in a warm stripy comforter. Lit w colorful lights that make our house rosy and warm. Of course my felt garland made a cameo. Like a fabulous boa for our awesome tree.
It’s our first official Christmas tree.
Ever.
She sure is swell.
Tie dye coffee filter wrapping paper:
It’s 730am. Teacher gifts for 2 children need to be wrapped. No wrapping paper. No tape. What do u do?
Whilst making coffee at 731a, I had an idea as I threw out yesterday’s filter. Immediately I ran to the DenOfDopeness for my watercolors and yarn. 3 minutes later two gifts (www.JaneticsInk.com jewelry) were craftily wrapped in painted coffee filters.
1.I highly suggest u wrap like a Hershey kiss FIRST using ribbon/ yarn/whatever. Then blouse out to crate a paper flower like blossom.
2. Dampen the tips of your Filter w paintbrush. This will create channels for the watercolor to travel. Leave spaces of dry spots. This is a basic watercolor technique. The paint will not flow here if done correctly.
3. Get to brushing. LIGHTLY. watch the colors sail.
Take your time w adding additional colors. You don’t want muddy colors.
Optional: add glitter when paper dry. Add any embellishment.
Perfect for stocking stuffer gifts…..
Or for that beautifully wrapped piece of coal for those humbugs out there.

“I’ve been here 18 years and suffered through some weird thematic Christmases. A Honolulu Christmas, A Pulp Fiction Christmas, A Muslim Christmas, A Moroccan Christmas, a Mo Rocca Christmas! I don’t want it.” -Stanley
it’s almost Christmas time; however, here in charleston, we are still being littlered with 80 degree days. A friend of mine calls this Christmas summers. How perfect a defintion!
After living most my years with below zero degre weather; these Christmas summers are exactly why i stay here in good ol’ Charleston. My house is always set at tropical. I can’t help it, it’s in my blood. My people are Trinidadian. Palm trees and sunshine, baby.
