The wedding quilt…
Let me tell u a story: my husband’s family are proud and loud rednecks (MIL words, not mine). . 4wheeling. Shotguns. Confederate flags. NASCAR. Southern Baptist etc.
I am a first generation Trini American from the suburbs of MD/DC/VA. when I walked into that family picnic 13 yrs ago, it was a culture shock. That was followed by 6 months of waiting in car whenever we had to go to their house for anything.
Eventually my MIL and I will bond over crafting. Ceramics. Stained glass.
Fast forward 3 years. Our wedding. 200 people. Big Cinderella dress. My mother in law worked on this quilt for 2 years! Handstitched, baby. No machine was used.
I feel so warm under those stitches. It’s her saying “I love u and welcome to the family”.
